I sometimes wonder why most of us go through this journey called "life" without a concrete plan for it. We have a clear plan for almost everything we do in our workplace or in our personal lives, but we seem to simply ignore our own lives in this aspect. In the deeper reflection, I have identified three main reasons for the same:
1) Maybe we do not want to believe that life has a clear beginning and also a certain end. As we celebrate the birth, we mourn death. These are the two milestones between which you must cherish each moment and make your life worth living.
2) We fear death to the extent that we do not want to talk or think about it. It's like closing your eyes to avoid an approaching storm. Does not help Prepare for the inevitable and plan it. Plan and run this lifespan so well that you will not regret it when you're on your deathbed. Do not regret it in the end. Life is a beautiful gift from God.
3) At worst, we feel that while death is inevitable, you probably will not think of it. You may see others falling over, but how do you think the same thing can happen to you? Trust me, it will happen :)
4) We just do not see the bigger picture of life. We are so deeply involved in our everyday lives that we simply can not stand still, step back and look at the bigger picture before proceeding to the next step.
I do not know what your reason is. It could also be a mixture of all the above reasons. Whatever your reason, it will always make more sense to get in touch with the reality of life and the facts that surround it. If this is the case, then I would like to ask you a hard but very important question. Do not ignore it. Try to answer, is a simple yes or no.
Do you also have a written plan in your life?
If you were honest, I know that most of you answered "no". Some of you have even tried not to answer them because you still feel that you do not have to answer them. Life goes on anyway. Some of you also thought that, although you have not written your plan, but you certainly have a plan.
But let us face it. If you have not clearly defined (and documented) the three critical aspects of your life, ie mission, goals and strategy, you can be reasonably sure of the fact that your life is being conducted. It is not guided by you, but by situations, circumstances, people, and everything but you.
Well, it's not rocket science why I say that. If you do not even know why you exist on this planet and what is the purpose of your life, all your daily activities are determined by the environment and the circumstances in your environment. Let us take a very rudimentary example. Suppose you are on a beautiful highway and drive the best car you can imagine. Unfortunately, you do not know where you are going. If this is the case and you reach a crossroad, how do you decide which way to take? In such cases, you probably tend to choose the path of least traffic or street condition, or something else that attracts you. Your decision depends on the circumstances on the road and not the destination. This situation is exactly similar in our life. Our life is a beautiful highway, you are the dream car. If you do not know where to go, take action in your life that depends on your environment rather than what you really want to do.
Be among those who have forgotten to define and document the mission and goals of your life. You can not be sure. Let me try to help you with this.
After seeing most of the people around me in a similar state, I tried to find out how their daily behavior was different from people who had clear goals and a clear purpose in life. I gathered all these symptoms together and tried to list the top few symptoms that I usually saw in most of these unfortunate souls.
Below is a list of the symptoms that you can check yourself. These symptoms show you whether you drive your life or are driven by circumstances and situations. When you refer to some of these symptoms, it is high time that you do something and try to define the mission of your life. Your daily actions would ultimately be determined by the mission in your life. One more word of caution before you look through this list. There is nothing wrong with showing these symptoms. This is only to alert you to the reality of life, so that you can take appropriate action to correct the course before it is too late. So, let's go.
Although you perform well in your career, you often reach a crossroads where it becomes increasingly difficult to make a decision on whether to aggressively take the next step in your career option or slow down your family, your health and your forgotten passions.
They believe that childhood was the best time and student life was always better than today. Not only do you believe in it, you also express it more often when talking to your friends and family members.
It is often difficult for you to choose the type of role you should perform in your workplace. They often seek advice from their "well-to-do". Unfortunately, most of these "well-wishers" and "free advisors" are also lost themselves and need guidance. So all the best with the advice you get.
They make good money. You do not know if you want to spend this money lavishly and live life "in the moment" or save money for the future needs of your and your family. They tend to switch periodically between these two extremes.
They often start with various personal initiatives and hobbies, such as joining a guitar class, doing sports, cycling, running, jogging, working out in the gym, etc. just to let them in between. Not only that, you have a very "valid" reason to leave any initiative - your work priorities, your children, your spouse, etc.
You do not know how much money you want to make in life. How much of it would be enough? How much do you need, which would ultimately prove sufficient to lead a financially secure and peaceful life.
They occasionally want to leave the hustle and bustle of city life behind and lead a quiet, laid-back life in a relatively small town or village. But you do not know what you will do after retirement. Life is probably aimless after retirement.
They earn well but are still not really happy. You do not seem to be able to defend your inherent fortune stolen by adverse circumstances, situations and people around you. This "loss of luck" happens quite often.
You do not feel that colleagues at work are taking the right path in life. The irony is that you are going the same way as you do not see any alternatives.
They get frustrated that old age is catching up.
Sometimes they feel hollow from the so-called "achievements" to the present day in life.
They seem to work extremely hard, be it holidays, weekends or late nights. You are always overburdened with work because you perform well. In the meantime, you seem to be missing out on smaller beauties of life; For example, have some healthy discussions with your child about a school subject. You sit and chat with your spouse at the breakfast table without having a particular program, spending time with your parents, playing ludo or chatting snakes and ladders with your kids, with your neighbors, etc.
You hate Monday and you love Friday.
Did you refer to anything?
If so, then wake up and think about it, what is the only purpose you want to serve while you are on this planet? What makes you happy and fills you with bliss? Read good books to learn more. Building a mission for yourself takes time.Of course, this situation can take a very long time. But trust me, all the time you have in hand is useless if you have not committed your mission of life.
For heaven's sake, do not lead a desperate life. Do something important in life.
